Osteopathy is a form of drug-free non-invasive manual therapy that focuses on whole body health by treating the structure of the body which includes the bones, joints, muscles and spine, as well as the fascia, organs and fluids within the body. The goal is to positively affect the body's nervous, circulatory and lymphatic systems creating an opportunity for the body to self regulate.
The therapist will asses the body as a whole functional unit, not only focusing on the area with symptoms as other areas of the body may be attributing to dysfunction. Osteopathic practitioners understand the interrelationships within the body and that all aspects of the body work together and are connected. Once the whole body has been assessed, the therapist will then use a combination of techniques which are appropriate and specific for each individual to help improve functional mobility throughout the body.
