Manual Osteopathy is a patient centered therapy that focuses on the body's innate ability to heal itself. Osteopathic practitioners use manual 'hands-on' therapy, based on highly developed sense of touch, to stimulate the bodies natural self-regulating and self healing capabilities.
Osteopathic manual therapy is a safe and effective approach to health care which works with the individual to help restore balance and optimize their health. Osteopathic practitioners understand the relationship between structure and function within the body and that all aspects of the body must work together to maintain health.
The therapist will asses the body as a whole functional unit, not only focusing on the area with symptoms as other areas of the body may be attributing to dysfunction. Once the the whole body has been assessed, the therapist will then use a combination of techniques which are appropriate and specific for each individual to help improve functional movement throughout the body.
